Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)

Dialectical Behavior Technique (DBT) teaches enhancement or development of coping response in the areas of mindfulness training, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, interpersonal skill development, and distress tolerance, with the core component of mindfulness interwoven into all areas of skill development. We can all benefit from this treatment approach, however, DBT is typically most effective for treating Personality Disorders, Depression/Mood Disorders and Complicated Complex Trauma.

DBT is effective in a group setting and the homework around “diary cards” is bridged into individual therapy, which then reinforces the skills taught in the group setting. DBT is a prerequisite for further group work, such as further psychoeducation and process groups around trauma and addiction. Please inquire further if you’d like more information about this treatment approach.
